Going Bananas..

The boy always goes bananas over eating bananas.  He will remind me over and over again to get his favourite fruit whenever I go to the supermarket.  He loves fruits of all kinds but still bananas are rated his most favourite fruit.

I remember him plucking one banana after another from where I hung them (on the door knob of the kitchen) when he was only three or four.  I thought a monkey had sneaked in and ransacked our house (bananas!) until I found traces of banana peels on the floor and him, at the other corner of the house, one of his hands still holding a half eaten banana!  He sure has a strong tolerance to bananas as I can't remember he suffered from either potassium overdose or diarrhea. Hahaha...

Do your kids love eating bananas as much as mine does?

Happy Children's Day!

My little bookworm racing against time to finish reading his new book collections. ^_^

The boy's school is celebrating Children's Day today and I prepared some chicken fingers and cocktail sausages for him to share with his classmates.  I forgot to snap photos of the food and hence no photos to share in this post.

While in the car on the way to school just now, we had this conversation:

Ian: Mommy, I am like a delivery boy sending pizzas to school. *grins* (He was referring to the bag of nicely packed finger food he's holding in his hand).
Mommy: But those are not pizzas, boy..
Ian: Almost the same larr.

When I was about to drop him off at the school entrance, he let out a scream:

Ian: Nicole, Nicole!! *Excited*
Mommy: What.. Nicole? Your classmate eh? Where?? (Eyes searching for the girl)
Ian: Not Nicole la.. It's Vico!! (He then pointed to the direction of a Vico Truck parked inside the school compound.
Mommy : Hahaha... Have fun, boy..
Ian: You too, mom (Gives a quick peck on my cheek and runs to join his friends at the school gate)

***********************************************************************************

I must jot this down too before it slips off my mind.

Ian: How I wished I had a brother to play with.. *sighs*
Mommy: Hmmm.. but then horr. you have to share all your toys and stuff with him.
Ian: It's okay..  I will be happy to have someone play with me at home.
Mommy: But then again horr.. Mommy cannot afford to give you all my love then..
Ian: Why??
Mommy: I have no choice.. one mommy but two boys.. must split my love into 2..
Ian:  Huh, then I don't want a brother. *case closed*

Don't Talk Bad About My Daddy!

My childhood buddy from Sabah was in town recently to attend a company training.  It was during the school holidays so I tagged my boy along and hang around at her hotel room until it's time to head out for a scrumptious buffet dinner together.

We have known each other since we were in kindergarten. Hahaha... We can talk until the cow comes home given a chance..  While we were chit chatting away in the hotel room,  my boy lashed out at me, "Don't talk bad about my daddy"! in an angry tone. I was updating my buddy on my recent busy life and how I had to wear many hats with little contribution from hubby.  My buddy and I were shocked at his sudden outburst.  He then added, "It's wrong to talk bad behind someone's back". Ahem. ^x^

Riding On Two Wheels

Ever since moving to a landed house, I am getting lazy to exercise compared to the days when we lived in a condo where I had to walk him down and stay there with him, be it going to the playground, playing table tennis, basketball, badminton or swimming.

Not anymore.  I can now sit back, relax and have a cuppa nescafe.  He rekindles friendships with the 7 yo Malay boy who lives across the road and a 9yo Indian boy few doors away.  Yes, 1Malaysia spirit!  LOL...  The 9yo even helped the boy remove the two baby wheels on his bike and taught him how to ride on two wheels and Wheeeee.... He now cycles like a "pro" on two wheels..  :)

On another note, I always encourage my boy to speak to his friends in their own language, here our conversation goes...

Mommy: Boy, Axx is a Malay, right, do you know that you can speak to him in Malay?
Ian: But he only speaks English with me worr.
Mommy: It's okay but you can always ask him to speak to you in Malay marr.
Ian: Hmmmm... but he only speaks English worr.  Axxx (the Indian boy) also speaks English. So, can I ask him to speak to me in Tamil??
Mommy: .................

Drunk??

Mommy, mommy, I am drunk.. he says, holding a bottle of beer in his hand..
He refused to sit up straight for a "decent" photo, instead gave me this drunkard pose.  *roll eyes*

Hoffenberg non-alcoholic beer (peach flavour) hubby bought from Carrefour during their buy 1 free 1 promo and it's halal, I suppose..  Taste wise, it'd be unfair for a non-beer person like me to comment.  I took a sip, yucks.. though hubby and the boy commented not bad, taste wise. :)

Till The Day I Pass Away

Just to clear the spider web off my blog, here sharing my conversation with the boy last night before light's off:

Ian: Good Night, mommy. * gives me a peck on my cheek*
Mommy: Good Night, boy.  I wonder how long I can still enjoy your kisses.
Ian:  Don't worry, mom.  You get to enjoy my kisses till the day I pass away. *another peck on my cheek*
Mommy:  Awwww... *sweet*

Ian: Oh, ya.. so I am yeh yeh's grandson in-law lor..?
Mommy: *chuckles* You are not yeh yeh's real grandson arr? In-law simply means not real one worr.

Mommy: LOLz...

I Feel Good, Mom..

I have to jot this down before it slips off my mind.

After dropping my boy at school yesterday afternoon, I headed back home.  I have a habit of checking my car's back seat before pressing the lock button on the remote control device.  I saw my boy's hand-carry bag there and obviously he forgot to take it with him when I dropped him off.  I quickly rushed back to his school and had to park my car along the roadside as the traffic got busier by now nearing morning school dismissal.  When I walked into the school compound, all the kids were already gathered at  the assembly hall waiting for dismissal of the morning classes before they got to their respective classrooms.  I spotted my son chit chatting with his friends and called out to him.  I gave him his bag followed by a hug and a peck on his forehead and wished him good luck on his exam before leaving.

While in the car heading home after school  in the evening, he told me that his friends laughed at him simply because I hugged and kissed him in public.  I then asked him if he felt ashamed of my actions and he said No, mom, Definitely not.. I feel good actually.  Awww.. I was over the moon and felt like I was in love again, boy..  *Excuse me for syiok-ing sendiri here*  I pray that I would continue to get the same reply from him ten years down the road. Ahem...

Two's Company, Three's A Crowd!

While doing revision with the boy last night, he looked so bored trying to tackle the mock questions I set for him.  I decided to crack a silly talk to cheer him up a little and so I asked him:

Mommy:  Boy, when you grow up and go out on a date with your girlfriend, would you bring mommy along?
Ian: Hey, mom.. No!!  Two's company, three's a crowd!
Mommy:  What??!!  LOL..

I was impressed, guess he picked it up from reading one of those books from his book collections.  Even when rushing to the toilet to do his big business, he will never forget to drop by the book shelf to get himself a book before dashing off to the toilet.  That's my funny little boy.. Hahaha....

Your Money, My Money

My boy is given RM40 a month as his monthly allowance though he brings lunch box to school.  Since starting of this year, I have drawn out a simple ledger sheet for him to record his in and out money transactions and the savings goes into his piggy bank, it's a pouch actually but he likes to refer to it as such.  He gets to buy something that he wants, of course with my approval.  So far, he has spent on a skipping rope and some books from his savings.  I must say that he is reasonably careful with his money. (Read: HIS MONEY)

Whilst on our way home after fetching him from school this evening, we had this conversation in the car:

Ian:  Mommy, the uncle came today and gave us this form.  Remember, the bling bling colour pen and colouring book that we bought last year but this one is different.  It's RM20 ONLY. (Read: ONLY)

Mommy: Ok but remember, the colour pen didn't last long.  Are you sure you want to buy it?

Ian: Hmmm.. yes..

Mommy: Ok then. You have until tomorrow morning to think if you should have it.  The money will be from your piggy bank if you really want to buy it.

Ian: Huh? But it's expensive (Read: EXPENSIVE now, no more RM20 only)..

Upon reaching home....

Ian: Mommy, I think I don't want to buy already.  It's not so good quality and won't last long.

Mommy: ..............

My Hercules..

;

The boy mingles quite a bit with the girls in school this year.   He's tall  and his class teacher assigned him the back row of seat with two girls sitting beside him, one on his left and another, on his right.  He was first seated with his good friend, a girl  from the same class last year but the class teacher swapped the girl's seat after two weeks as they talked too much. *slap forehead*  He was then left with two girls who wouldn't talk to him.  Good!  But.. but..then.. after a week.. one girl finally warmed up to his "friendliness" and they became friends.. another partner in crime.. *roll eyeballs*

Coming back to the girl from the same class last year, Though seated separately now, they are still as close as ever.  They eat their lunch box together during break time with few others from the same class last year and coincidently the parents enrolled both of them to the same Saturday classes too.  They phone each other when they are unsure of what homework to do and one day my boy tells me this:

Ian: JC (the girl) calls me Hercules..

Mommy: Huh?

Ian: We have to put our chairs on the desk before going home.  JC wasn't strong enough to lift up the chair so she asked for my help. Now I put her chair on the table for her everyday and she calls me her Hercules.

Mommy: ^ ^

My Day

Knowing that he has to attend school this coming Saturday, a class in replacement for early CNY holidays, my boy has started negotiating with me.

Ian: So, MY DAY is gone.. (His day = every Saturday where he gets to do anything he wants, be it computer games, PSP, reading books, watching TV, his science robotic class and lately, his Aikido class)

Mommy: It's still your day after school provided you finish your homework. *evil grins*

Ian: No.. the whole day will be gone then.. Can I have Sunday to replace Saturday?

Mommy: Hmm.. It depends on whether you behave yourself these few days..

Ian: Ok, ok.. I will try my best.

Mommy: LOL...

******************

The next morning, the first thing after brushing his teeth......

Ian: Mommy, Can I have Sunday to replace Saturday?

Mommy: I told you it depends whether you "gwai" (behave)  or not.

Ian: Ok, ok.. I will try my best. Hehehe..

He just wants double assurance and it also proves that HIS DAY is really a BIG DAY and it does means a lot to him. :)

Teacher Always Makes Us Laugh

That's what my boy told me when he came back from school last evening..  A good sign that he likes his new class teacher, Teacher Teoh, a slender and pleasant looking lady.

Ian:  Mommy, Teacher Teoh always makes us laugh.
Mommy: Do you like her?
Ian: Oh, yes.. I like Teacher Teoh.
Mommy: What about Teacher Leong (his std 1 class teacher)?
Ian:  I like Teacher Teoh more hmmm (in deep thoughts for a minute) Hmmm.. I think I like both of them la...

That's my boy... he never wants to disappoint or fail anyone with one exception:

Mommy: Who is prettier, mommy or yi yi (my sister)?
Ian: Both
Mommy: Cannot have both as the answer.. must pick one..
Ian: Cannot decide wo.. both also pretty ma..
Mommy:  Then, who is prettier, mah mah (his paternal grandma) or mommy?
Ian: Mommy!!
Mommy:   LOL...

Sadly to say, mah mah, you are definitely not his favourite choice.  LOL...

Time Killer

His latest "time killer" while waiting for food to be served

I dug out my Archie's Comics collection of about 150+ copies from the 80's from our old house and kept them in the store room.  My boy was so excited when I showed him those comic books on his last day of school.  LOL..

He was at the living hall reading one now and once in a while he would let out a hilarious and infectious laugh whenever the contents of the comics tickled his funny bones.  It sounds something like this... Hahahaha.. Hehehehe... Wuakakakka....  Muahahahahaha..  That's our funny boy. LOL....

Love-Hate Relationship

On few occasions my boy would come home and tell me in an "angry" tone that he hates his class teacher for reprimanding him... usually for talking in class.

This morning, he asked me this question:

Ian : Mommy, will Teacher Leong (his class teacher) be our class teacher again in Standard 2?
Mommy: I don't think so, boy.  Do you like Teacher Leong?
Ian: Sure. I like her.
Mommy: But I thought you told me you didn't like her?
Ian:  I hate her but I like her too ma.
Mommy: *_*

Lie Down Or Stand Up?

Most of the time, when my boy comes to know of an upcoming holiday, the first thing that interests him would be..... the hotel and the bathroom.

Ian: Mommy, is the hotel luxury?
Mommy: Do you know the meaning of luxury or not?
Ian: It means good, right?   How is the bathroom? Lie down or stand up?
Mommy: Huh? What's that?
Ian: Like last time, I can lie down and take bath. (We have only standing shower at home).
Mommy: Oh, you mean got bathtub or not, right? You check it out yourself when you are there, ok.

***********************

On our recent trip to Malacca, the first thing he checked out upon entering the hotel room... the bathroom.

Ian: Wow! Can "lie down" one wo.
Daddy & Mommy: *LOL*  This funny boy of ours.

Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

When can I shout "Merdeka"?  Don't get me wrong.. I am not that patriotic.. No, not at all.. :)

It happened one evening when I was revising Bahasa with my boy and we were at this topic: Hari Kemerdekaan (Independence Day).  My boy started asking his favourite Ws questions (what, why, when, where....).  I told him that this day was formed to celebrate the formation of Malaysia.   He didn't quite get it and went on flooding me with tonnes of questions.

Fortunately, this poor mommy's (struggling to stay afloat from the questions thrown to her) light bulb lighted up just in time before she gets drowned.

That's what the mommy told his son, "  When you will do your revision and homework without being told or nagged at... then that's the time your mommy can shout "Merdeka"!

xxxxxxxxx

One evening, he took out his homework after shower, sat down on his chair and started doing his homework all by himself.

Mommy: Wah! Boy, I am so proud of you.  (Gives him a big hug)
Ian: Yeah, mommy... Now you can shout "Merdeka" 7 times!
Mommy: ???  Why?
Ian: You told me before when I do my homework all by myself then you can shout "Merdeka" already..
Mommy: Oh... and why shout 7 times?
Ian:  Teacher asked us to shout 7 times "Merdeka" during the assembly on Merdeka Day. (it's actually a day before Hari Merdeka).
Mommy: (Mumbling.. still a long way to go before I can shout MERDEKA!!!  Haiz.. kids.. so innocent.. or perhaps the mommy has misinterpreted the meaning of Merdeka.. or so it seems? Blek..

Of Sofa And A Solid Buttock

That day, he fell off his chair while doing his homework.  This boy of mine can never sit still even when his hands keep busy with the writing but he can still do other "stunts" such as swinging his legs simultaneously. *roll eyes*  This explains why his handwriting looks like it's ready to take-off anytime...and he wants to do anything and everything fast!!

Ian: *Brrrrraaaaaang!!!*   Ouch!!
Mommy: *Sitting just next to him on my "coaching" armchair* Aiyo! Did you hurt yourself?
Ian: Don't worry, mommy..  I am okay.. Luckily I have sofa on my buttock.  *He has solid and full rounded fleshy bum, Ahemm*
Mommy: *roll eyes* *roll eyes*

Ian: Mommy, Is the M in Malaysia in capital letter?
Mommy: Yes, Malaysia is a "nama khas" (special name) and how many Malaysia do we have?
Ian: Yes, yes, I know, I know...* Getting excited*  1MALAYSIA!!
Mommy: *x*

Special Promotion..

Daddy is away on a working trip and my boy offers his "service" to sleep with me in our master bedroom.  He still enjoys sleeping in his own room though as he gets to switch on his air-cond for as long as he wants.  I hardly have the air-cond switched on in the master bedroom as I have allergic nose (Rhinitis).  For me, turning on the fan and with the windows open will suffice as it's very cooling at night.

Ian: Mommy, do you want me to sleep with you tonight?
Mommy: Ok, but do I have to pay you for sleeping with me?
Ian:  I have special promotion now, no need to pay... you have to pay me RM1 when no promotion.
Mommy:  Wow! That sounds cool.. How long is your promotion?
Ian:  One week. *follows by a big smile*
Mommy: But cannot turn on the air-cond wor.. Okay or not?
Ian: Okay la.. Hehehe..
Mommy: :P
