For three consecutive years, we stayed a night at The Westin KL but this year was special as we spent our night there on Christmas eve.  Does it sound funny to you that being someone whose home is in KL and yet staying a night in a KL hotel? No choice as we have to use up the complimentary stay that comes with the membership before it expires. 

Both father and son enjoyed their stay there and as for me, I would have enjoyed our time together if only Aunty Flo had not come visiting.  Haiz...  Shortly after check-in, the two of them hopped down to the hotel pool and had a good time enjoying their tea time of burgers and fish and chips by the pool.  My boy reported that lemon flavoured iced water, popsicles and apples were being served at no charge by the pool too.  The next morning, two of them woke up to a sunny morning and happily hopped down for a scrumptious and wide spread of American style breakfast while the mother stayed back in the room nursing her tummy pain. Huhuhu.... 

The famous heavenly bed and the day bed doubles up as my boy's bed at night.  Compared to last year, they have since upgraded to LCD TV c/w a DVD player.

The first thing he did was to switch on disney channel.  Dino will never be left behind when travelling.  I got the Dino pillowcase from Shireen.

It has been 3 months since I came back from my Bangkok trip with my dad and sister and I have yet to document my trip in my blog! To get the engine started, I will start with the hotel we stayed whilst there from 21 Jan to 25 Jan.;p

Krit Thai Mansion... the name of the hotel does sound eerie, don't you think so? Mansion... sounds like some haunted mansions. Lol...

Nothing beats the hotel location which is nearby National Stadium Skytrain station, to be exact, the stairway to the station is just in front of the hotel. You can take sky trip wherever you want without walking too far. MBK shopping mall is just further down across the road and a 7-11 store is located nearby

It's a no frill budget hotel and dated deco can be seen at the hotel lobby, the facilities are somewhat basic but that's good enough for us as we only want a clean and safe place and that just fits our bill.

Our room are spacious and comes with wood flooring. The bathroom is clean and the beds are comfortable.

24 Hours Room Service!

Two bottles of "Singha" mineral water are provided daily.

Yes, the hotel offers 24 hours room service. We used the service once when dad decided to stay in the hotel room and not to follow us to another round of shopping spree after coming back from Chatuchak.

Our room is neighbour to a construction site and National Stadium skytrain station (End of Silom line). By viewing the above photo, can you imagine how near the site is from our room? That did not bother us a bit though as we were always out during the daytime and the site had already stopped work by the time we were back to our room.

Dad has always been a light sleeper and from some of the negative reviews I read online, I was a bit concerned about the noise generated by passing trains as the hotel and skytrain run parallel. Fortunately, during our four nights' stay there, neither of us encountered sleepless nights but instead we fell asleep before our head hit the pillow throughout our stay there.;p

We paid THB1280 per night for a triple room. You have to pay additional THB100 (if not mistaken) per person for breakfast to be included. We had our breakfast at the hotel for the first two mornings but decided to hunt for food elsewhere thereafter as choice of breakfast at the hotel was somewhat limited.

Room reservation has to be made by email, fax or telephone directly to the hotel and no deposits are required until the day you arrive. I made my reservation via email and the hotel response had been prompt and efficient.

I will stay in this hotel again the next time I visit Bangkok.

Hubby and Ian went for a dip in the hotel pool the next morning before checking out while I lazed around in the hotel room catching up on "Yes Man" starred by Jim Carrey on Vision 4.

Ian ordered egg and sausage and a glass of banana smoothie while hubby's turkey ham & scrambled egg on toast which he gave a thumbs up. The bill came to RM48 after discounts of 20% on beverages and 50% on food for members. It wasn't too bad considering dining in at a hotel.

The Westin, Kuala Lumpur

The Westin KL is located on the busy Jalan Bukit Bintang with the lobby right opposite Pavilion KL which makes it a hotel of choice for lots of tourists. If you are driving, the parking can be a little difficult to get to from Jalan Bukit Bintang and it will be advisable to access it through the Ritz Carlton KL.

The Westin KL hotel lobby isn’t very big and is set in a stylish and contemporary design. They always have two pitchers of Orange & Mint and Peach & Strawberry elixirs at the entrance for their guests to refresh themselves in the hot and humid KL weather. Because of the small lobby, it can sometimes be a little crowded especially if there are a high number of guests around.

There are 4 speed lifts servicing the rooms and rooms can only be accessed when you slot your hotel card to select the floor where you stay. The room was quite spacious with a little day bed by the window (who doubles up as Ian's bed for the night) and a writing desk. I was a bit surprised to see that their TV was not a flat screen TV.

We arrived at Westin Hotel around 3pm for checking into the hotel room for a night's stay on Christmas night. We had to wait for an hour for the room key to be ready and given to us. There was a play corner to entertain the guests' kids while waiting to be checked in and a hotel attendant watching over them. Ian played the big brother role as most of the kids were younger than him and he willingly made swords out of blocks when requested by them. He named his sword creation "Dragon Sword". The kids there were all crazy over his creation and fighting for the sword. )O.O

The signature Heavenly Bed... I think it would cost you RM10k should you wish to take one home. It's plush but firm feel and isolates movement which is ideal for light sleepers, pillow-top and these usually down filled layers add a plush softness to the underlying firm mattresses. You usually love the feeling or hate it. I don't favour hard mattresses so I like it to the brim! It feels like it's coddling your body! We liked the smaller pillow they included in their many pillows which doubled up as a really comfortable bolster for us!

The view from our hotel room was just spectacular overlooking Twin Tower, KL Tower and the Pavilion Residences which could cost up to a staggering sum of RM1.5 million to own a standard unit of RM1300sq ft. Hubby said he would buy a unit there should he strike lottery. Dream.. dream .. dream... lol. But who knows, a dream can one day turn into reality.
