Mommy, Get A GPS!

I got my driving licence when I was 18 but I hardly drive out of my comfort zones knowing my own weakness in sense of direction.  I am most comfortable driving around PJ area as most of my working days evolved around PJ.  I had countless of bad experiences driving around KL, one of them found myself ended up in Genting downhill when my expected destination was Gombak, KL!  The moment I saw the toll in front of me, I knew I was in deep trouble as there was no turning back! Hahaha...

KL would never be in my list of comfort zones, that's for sure though I am comfortable to drive around:

a)  Petaling Jaya and my parents' in-law's in KL which is at the border of PJ larr
b)  Subang Jaya where we lived for 8 years
c)  Puchong where we lived for 5 years
d)  Ironically, I now live in KL territory but also bordering PJ wor..

My boy was so concerned the moment he knew daddy wouldn't be around to send him to Sunday Dhamma school which happened to be in KL two Sundays ago, knowing his mommy's weakness well.

Our conversation while in the car:

Ian:  Are we going to Dhamma school this Sunday?
Mommy: Sure, boy. Mommy will send you there.
Ian:  But daddy will not be around.
Mommy: So..
Ian:  Will we get lost? (from the rear-view mirror, I can see worriness starts creeping up his face, hehehe..)
Mommy: Then, how eh, boy? (decides to play along with him)
Ian: (Switches to thinking mode, and suddenly his light bulb is on. Ding!) Don't worry, mommy. We can get a GPS!
Mommy: Huh.. (he was never exposed to a GPS before).  Do you know what a GPS is, boy?
Ian: Yes, a machine that can take you to anywhere you want..
Mommy: (Impressed with him and with a smile) Where did you learn this from?
Ian: From "Young Scientist" magazine!
Mommy: (Nodding her head away).. Well, boy, we don't need that, mommy knows the way.
Ian: Are you sure or not but daddy is not around, you know?
Mommy: *-*

What Is He So Fascinated With?

Reading on my lappie

And still reading

He was reading the story plot of Toy Story 3 from wikipedia's website.  He spent at least 15 minutes to finish reading all the tiny words and in between lines, pointed his finger at the end line to make sure his eyes catched the following line precisely.

We went to watch the movie during the recent school holidays with his grandparents.  Since then, he had been bugging me to google the story so that he could read it as he insisted he did not quite get the full picture of the story.  I did the same for him after watching Shrek Forever After too, well, just to stop him from asking so many why, why and why questions and it had worked wonderfully well.  No more questions asked after that. Phew! ;)

Iron Man 2 At TGV Or GSC?

We went to watch Iron Man 2 at TGV One Utama two Saturdays ago.  As it was a last minute decision, I did not book the tickets in advance.  I logged on Cinema Online in the morning only to find out that it was fully booked.  Well, I know if I were to get it over the counter now, it would still be available from past experience. But not wanting to take the hassle but at the same time determined not to disappoint my boy, I did a quick google search and hopped over to TGV Online

Tadaaa..  I managed to get 3 tickets with seat selection online some more for the 8pm show from TGV Online which I prepaid with my credit card plus RM2 service charge.  This arrangement suited us just nice as we had something to deal with  the whole afternoon and might run slightly late for the show.  With the prepaid service, you can collect your tickets anytime but of course do not run too late larr, otherwise you will miss the 1st part of the show.;)

My boy and I had a hard time following the characters and understanding how the plot was unfolding as we did not watch Iron Man 1 and neither were we the superhero fancee.   It was kind of boring during the beginning part of the show as there was a lot of talking involved but as the show moved on, at the mid-way point and finale in particular,  the audience finally got to enjoy some action and special effects.  A movie worth watching for its action and special effects but nothing spectacular though.

Ice Age 3 - Dawn Of The Dinosaurs

We went for a movie at GSC Mid Valley last Sunday and Ian chose to watch Ice Age 3 even though daddy had been trying to change his mind to watching Transformer. He was very excited throughout the show and would even popped up from his seat whenever there were scenes that excited him. Haha....

Honestly, the 3D effect could not get any better when the film is already an animation. It's like paper dolls, the animation pops up just a little but that's it. Ian was amused over the idea of wearing the 3D glasses while watching a movie and kept putting his glasses on and off to compare and feel the different viewing effects.

Below is the full story of Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaur:

Ellie and Manny are expecting their first child, and Manny is obsessed with making life perfect and safe for the family, since his first experiences as a husband and father went bad when his family were killed by hunters. At the same time, Diego finds himself unable to catch a cocky gazelle he has been stalking and decides to leave the herd, believing that he is losing his predatory nature as a tiger. Sid grows jealous of Manny and Ellie and “adopts” three apparently abandoned eggs that he finds in an icy underground cavern and call them Eggbert, Shelly, and Yoko. Manny tells him to put them back, but Sid instead looks after the eggs, which hatch into baby Tyrannosaurus the next morning.

Although Sid tries his best to raise the three dinosaurs, their rambunctious behavior scares away all the other animals’ young and ruins a playground Manny built for Ellie’s baby. A female Tyrannosaurus, Momma, whose eggs Sid stole, soon returns and carries both Sid and her young underground, with Diego in pursuit. Manny, Ellie, Crash, and Eddie follow as well and discover that the icy cavern leads to a vast jungle populated by dinosaurs thought to be extinct. Here, an Ankylosaurus threatens the herd despite Diego’s efforts to fend it off; they are saved from a further crowd of angry reptiles by a one-eyed, insane weasel named Buckminster, or Buck..

Buck has been living in this jungle for some time and is chasing Rudy (a huge albino Suchomimus, intending to avenge the eye he lost to it. He agrees to lead the herd through the jungle’s perils to Lava Falls, where Momma has taken Sid and her babies. In the meantime, Sid and Momma try to outdo each other in feeding the offspring; he loses this contest, but is soon welcomed into the family regardless. The next day, however, Sid is separated from the family and attacked by Rudy. Sid is knocked onto a loose rock slab that is floating on a river of lava and about to plummet over the falls.

As the herd moves toward Lava Falls, Ellie goes into labor and a Guanlong pack strikes, causing a rock slide that separates her from Manny and Diego. Manny doubles back to protect her and Diego fends off further attacks, while Buck takes Crash and Eddie ahead to rescue Sid. Just as the sloth goes over the falls, the trio swoops in on a commandeered Pteranodon and saves his life. Manny reaches Ellie, and there is suddenly a reaction, the cry of a newborn baby, then he sees that it is a girl. He wants to name her Ellie, or Little Ellie, but Ellie instead names her Peaches after the fruit (the codeword they had chosen for Ellie to use if she went into labor during the trip). Sid is saddened at the fact that he never had a chance to say goodbye to "his" children as he returns to the herd and learns of Peaches' birth.

Before they can exit the jungle, Rudy attacks at full force; Buck lures Rudy away from the group and is nearly eaten himself, before Diego saves him at the last second. They then ensnare him briefly, but he escapes and resumes his onslaught. The herd is saved by the timely arrival of Momma, who charges at Rudy and knocks him off a cliff. As she and her children wish Sid well, Buck – now without a purpose in life since Rudy is gone – decides to join the herd and live on the surface. However, a distant roar tells him that Rudy is still alive; he changes his mind and sends the herd home, blocking off the path to the underground jungle at the same time so that no one else can go down there. Manny and Ellie welcome Peaches into their frozen world and admit that Sid did a good job looking after Momma's children (though Manny tells Diego that he will never let Sid babysit Peaches). Diego decides to remain with the herd, while Buck stays where he wants to be: underground, battling it out with Rudy.
Ian loved one of the role characters, the weasel, Buck for his courageus and undying battling spirit with Rudy to avenge the eye he lost to it.

Overall, it's a great family movie to make sure everyone is smiling and goofing around during family time.
