The Kid Who Interrupts
I was having a conversation with a mother whose daughter was my boy's classmate while walking back to the car after school dismissal this evening. My boy saw another classmate, XX, and wanted me to meet him up.
Ian : Mommy, that's XX, the boy that I always mention to you, remember?
Mommy: ........ (Busy talking to the mother)
Ian: Mommy, that's XX, he's getting into the transporter's van..
Mommy: .........(Keeps yakking away)
Ian: Mommy!! XX has left already.. now you don't get to know who's XX..
Mommy: *parts way with the mother and gets into the car* Did I teach you not to interrupt when others are talking? Don't you know it's rude and do you like it if I did the same to you?
Ian: But you've got to know who my friends are. You always mix up my friends' names.. *pouting and sounds very unhappy*
Mommy: But you've got to let me finish talking to aunty first.
Ian: My friends would have left by the time you finish talking. *still very unhappy*
Mommy: -_-

This boy of mine just love to interrupt when I talk to others on many occasions. He can really get on my nerves when he behaves that way. How would you respond if you were in my situation? Mind sharing?

My children love to interrupt too. They particularly like to interrupt when am on the phone or when my friends visit me at home and I am talking to them. The things they ask are usually not urgent, but they just like to interrupt to 'fight' for attention. They would get good lecturing from me after I put down the phone or after my friends left.
But in your case, I think your boy really wants to show you his friend. If he doesn't interrupt, you might miss seeing his friend. Perhaps , he should say "excuse me"
Children are like that. Yup...teach him the P's and q's. Saying excuse me would be nice...
Depend on the situation. Like your case, Ian was really having a reason, but you were very into the conversation. That is why you think he didn't respect you.
This one i am for Ian,,hahahah for i could feel his enthusiasm and urgency,,,hahhaah
Vic does that too, and we keep telling us to say, "excuse me" but even then she says it and also interrupts! *slap head* so then we tell her if URGENT then only interrupt otherwise wait for ppl to stop talking first... i dunno if working or not...
My girl does the same too. She does not have the patient to wait for her turn.
i used to have ONE that is like that and now I have TWO to interrupt me while i am talking. Once he even made me cry cos i was trying to tell my hub how unhappy i was and there he goes Mami Mami Mami Mami Mami .. i said what?! and he replied NUTHING.. arghh imagine how frustrating is it for me that time.. nearly cekik him man
My girl does that ALL the time. Altho I keep telling her it's rude to interrupt ppl when we're talking, she doesn't rmbr (she has selective memory :D). And most of the time, it's nothing important -- more for seeking attn. But in Ian's case, he's got a good reason there. U can use it as a good example to show him that if he'd use "excuse me", he wud've gotten ur attn.
I have 2 who interrupts when I am talking to my hubby. When I asked them to hold their thoughts, they said that they will forget. Sigh.
haha....If I were you, I will stop and give a quick glance at his friend since he really wanted to show you who his friend is ma. So far, I've not experience mine interrupt. Maybe later. the time will come. hehe
