Artwork In School

I don't blame you if you think the above artwork looks more like a bunch of flowers.  It's actually a bunch of rambutans made from bits of coloured papers and newspaper for the background.

My boy has his art class in school every Thursday and more often than not, he brings back the unfinished work  as homework.  All homework must be passed up latest the next day or they will be reprimanded, usually ear squats, which is pretty common in Chinese schools.

I did the artwork together with him this morning before he went to school but his teacher rejected it for the reason the whole page must be fully sticked and covered with those coloured papers and newspaper bits.  What we did was we just had the bits of papers glued scatteringly over the piece of paper to save time as we had only an hour to do it before getting ready for school.  I dislike the fact that his art teacher insisted that it must be done as instructed but doesn't art emphasize more on one's creativity and imagination?

Soon after he was done with his homework this evening, we continued with the project again.  It took us another hour to fill up the gap with paper bits.  I know we can always do it over the weekend but I insist that he finishes his work on the day itself than to wait till the next day.  O, yes, I know I am a bad mommy. :P

Things that you can do today, don't put off for tomorrow. I always stick to this phrase since young and I believe in it
