E-Dictionary
Do anyone of you here own an e-dictionary? Apple Tree is having a promotion at the boy's school tomorrow. Their new model D98, a flat screen i-pad look e-dictionary is selling at RM498 net. This company carries out ongoing yearly or bi-yearly promotions at the school. My boy has been bugging me to get him one since last year.

Romantisch Hotel Bruges
No need.
My students pay me RM15 for photocopying for 10 months - now already March, so new students joining my class have to pay for 8 months only. I asked my class (All A scorers - PMR Mathematics) how much the new ones have to pay - some could not be bothered to think of the answer (That kind of attitude, students today - not an exam, don't care!), most took out their calculators...and before they could switch it on, I had already worked out the answer mentally.
See how dependent students today are on technology? They do not know how to use their brains anymore!
My girl didnt pester me to buy.. that is why her english is so so only..if your boy wants, it is a good idea to get one for him..provided he uses it after buying :)
btw, i forgot your email addy, can u pls drop me one? i have something to inform u.. thanks!
We use our e-dict (not apple tree) daily for Chinese, Malay and English. It is very useful indeed. Useful for learning Mandarin and Malay. Make sure you get trilingual.
Call me old fashion, I still prefer the conventional dictionary. I know it is time consuming to look up a word, but I still want them to think, perhaps it developspatient too. Like for BM you need to know the kata dasar in order to look upthe word, I guess for e dictionary a word even with imbuhan can be found by a few click?
I told them, learn the hard way first wait till they are in older forms then we shall consider thus gadget.
I don't own any at the moment, but the price is reasonable wert! May be when you get it, you can share with me its benefits more.
I think most students are equipped with this gadget nowadays. It's quite helpful in their study. RM498 is reasonable because I know some bought their e-dictionary for higher price!
My eldest girl is only in pre-school so I am not sure about Primary School syllabus. However, I think meaning of a word in English should be explained in English, Mandarin explained in Mandarin so that students can think in the language itself and not in translated form.
I was quite shocked when I saw some Chinese Primary School books for English have new words explained in Mandarin. I don't think that is appropriate way to learn. Maybe that's because I was from Kebangsaan school and I was never exposed to learning method in Chinese Primary School. Some people told me that is the fastest way for students to understand due to limited time in school for each subject.
