Double Rainbow!
This was the view (The first 2 pics) that greeted us from our balcony when we arrived home from my boy's school last Friday evening. My camera did not do the pictures justice as it looked exactly like the picture sourced above. The downpour that started when I was about to go out to fetch my boy had now reduced to drizzles with a bright and double rainbow showing its appearance, O, yes, a DOUBLE rainbow!
I was so absorbed with the view that I forgot to grab my camera until my boy reminded me. My boy was so excited and again, the Whys questions came flooding me. This mommy was like Awww.. sorry, boy.. mommy must go do some googling first. *paiseh*
Ok, done.. So, boy, here it goes...
What Is A Rainbow?
A rainbow is an arch of light exhibiting the range (spectrum) of colors in their order. A rainbow is caused by drops of water falling through the air. It is seen usually in the sky opposite to the sun at the close of a shower
and also in the spray of waterfalls.
When Can You See Rainbows
Certain weather conditions have to present for a rainbow to be displayed. You need rain or shower and a certain amount of sunlight.
How Is A Rainbow Formed?
A rainbow is formed when sunlight hits a collection of raindrops that bends or “refracts” light waves in such a way that it makes a bow of different coloured light.
What Are The Colours Of A Rainbow?
The colours of a rainbow are: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet
