What Matters Most In My Life?

I have been asking myself the same question over and over again for the past month. I was offered a highly paid, flexitime home based job by my ex-colleague who now holds a key position in an international company.  As it is home based, I can practically work from home with my pyjamas on.  Sounds too good to be true, right, don't you think and I am sure any SAHM would sure jump at the chance.

But then, I had to turn down the job offer mainly because the job scope requires me to travel overseas extensively.  If I were single, I would have taken up the offer without hesitation but now I'll have to give it a miss.  My family especially the boy still matters the most to me.  I hope I would not regret in the later part of my life for letting go such a golden opportunity.

I have seen and witnessed working mothers who still do a good job raising up their children despite having to juggle between work and family but not without supportive spouses who involve themselves actively in parenting their children.  As for my spouse, work keeps him away from home more often than not and he thinks that I can do a better parenting job than him. :(

*To Be Continued*

If you were to take up this job then you would be exactly in the same position as your spouse ie being away from home more than not when required to travel overseas however what you say is very true, hope that whatever decisions we make today, we won't regret later on. All the best in making your choices.

The offer of working from home sounds so ideal for me, but extensive traveling isn't suitable for us who have family commitment. I agree with your decision, accept it only when minimal travelling is required.

If I were you..I will take up the job first and see if you can handle or not...rather than upright saying no. Use a period of 3 months for both the employer and you to decide lor.

All the best

Since your hubs is already rarely around, it is normal for you to want to be there for your child. Otherwise kesian the kid the parents always away kan? But what matters most is the decision comes from your heart in order for you not to feel regretful in years to come. I think you won't though as your kid matters most to you :)

Working at home in pajamas is great for SAHM..... I would love that too.. but when it comes to traveling without the family, then 2nd thoughts...
Hope you can negotiate something out of this...

Pro - High paycheck, flexi-working hours, home based.

Con - Extensive traveling.

It's hard to get a 'perfect' job. You already know your answer and are doing the best for yourself and the family.

All the best!

Some things you cannot put a price tag to it, for example your influence in the home. A great building needs a good foundation. You are building the foundation.
